This is quite an unusual town garden which wraps around the house. None of the areas are very big but they go around almost three and half sides of the property creating a challenging design commission for me but, one with lots of possibilities.
The client wanted water features, places to entertain, somewhere to grow fresh herbs and vegetables, water features garden lighting and great views from the house.
Linking the different areas meant a lot of hard surfaces which would require careful planning to avoid too much repetition and keep each area accessible but separate from the next.
Planting was quite extensive, even though there was not much depth to any of the gardens, it was essential to create the illusion that the boundaries were further back to avoid the whole design looking like a series of corridor like pathways.
I am pleased with the finished result which fitted in well with the clients needs and almost instantly looked as if it had always belonged there.
